Peanut Brittle

Ingredients

  • 3 c. white sugar
  • 1 c. white syrup
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. oleo
  • 2 c. raw peanuts
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking soda

Directions

    Put first 3 ingredients in heavy pan and boil 3 minutes, covered.

    Uncover and boil until hard crackle in cold water.

    Add 2 tablespoons oleo.
  4. 4
    Add 2 cups raw peanuts; cook until syrup is golden brown.

    (It takes approximately 7 1/2 minutes after putting peanuts in.)

    Remove from heat.

    Add 2 1/2 teaspoons baking soda. Stir well.

    Pour into a well-greased pan (large pan).

    Cool and break into pieces.
