  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 c. light corn syrup
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 3 c. salted peanuts (Spanish)
  • 2 tsp. soda (no lumps)

Directions

    Stir together the sugar, corn syrup and water in a heavy large saucepan.

    Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until temperature on candy thermometer reaches 280°.

    Stir in the peanuts (try to remove as many loose hulls as possible first). Cook slowly, without stirring, until temperature reaches 300°. Remove from heat and quickly stir in soda.

    Pour immediately onto two greased cookie sheets.

    Cool and break into pieces.
