  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 c. white Karo
  • 2 c. raw Spanish peanuts
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 tsp. soda

Directions

    Mix sugar, water and Karo and stir well.

    Add peanuts and butter.

    Cook, stirring until syrup becomes golden brown and reaches hard crack stage (very thick with small bubbles).

    Drop in ice water; if it becomes hard in water, it's ready.

    Quickly add vanilla, then soda and stir quickly.

    Pour into 2 well-buttered cookie sheets.

    Turn when cool.

    Break into pieces.
