Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2/3 c. white corn syrup
  • 1 c. milk or cream
  • 3 1/2 c. raw peanuts
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • few drops red food coloring

Directions

    Combine sugar, syrup, milk and peanuts in a heavy saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until it reaches soft ball stage (236°).

    Remove from heat.

    Add butter, vanilla and food coloring. Beat until mixture is creamy. Drop by spoonfuls on waxed paper.

    Let cool.

    Makes 25 to 30 patties.
