Ingredients

  • 1 gal. pears
  • 1/2 gal. white onions
  • 7 large sweet peppers (green)
  • 7 large red sweet peppers
  • 4 to 6 hot peppers
  • 2 qt. vinegar
  • 5 Tbsp. powdered mustard
  • 2 Tbsp. turmeric
  • 5 c. sugar

Directions

    Grind up all ingredients (first 5) with coarse blade.

    Put in pillow case and cover with 1/2 cup of salt.

    Let stand overnight. Pour cold water over it 3 to 4 times (up and down like washing). Get all salt out.

    Squeeze all water out (last time).

    Cook for 5 minutes (after boiling point).

    Add peppers to syrup and cook 5 more minutes.

    Then put into jars.
