- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 14 teaspoon salt
- 6 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
- 1 12 cups chopped toasted pecans or 1 12 cups almonds
Directions

1Heat oven to 350 degrees.

2Grease 9 x 13 inch baking pan.

3In large bowl, with mixer on high, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.

4Add yolk and vanilla, and beat until combined.

5Reduce mixer speed to low, and add flour and salt until soft dough forms.

6Press dough evenly into bottom of pan.

7Bake 25 minutes or until browned.

8Sprinkle chocolate pieces on top, and bake 5 minutes longer.

9Remove from oven; with knife, spread melted chocolate to cover.

10Top with nuts, gently pressing into chocolate.

11Let cool completely.
