  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 Tbsp. hot water
  • 1 c. butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. chopped pecans

    Combine soda and water; mix well.

    Cream the butter or margarine; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add eggs, beating well.

    Stir in soda mixture and vanilla.

    Add flour, beating until blended.

    Stir in pecans.

    Shape into 2 rolls (1 1/4-inches in diameter).

    Wrap in wax paper and chill until firm.

    Unwrap rolls, cut into 1/4-inch slices and bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes.
