  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 c. white corn syrup
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 4 whole eggs
  • 1 c. pecans

    Brown butter in skillet to develop the rich flavor; remove from fire, add sugar and beat in the whole eggs one at a time.

    Add syrup and nuts.

    Add 1 tsp. vanilla if desired.

    Pour into uncooked pastry.

    Bake at 375° for 40-50 minutes, until custard sets and is browned.

    Makes 1 large or 2 small pies.
