Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 Tbsp. plus 1/2 c. packed dark brown sugar, divided
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine, plus 2 Tbsp. melted butter or margarine, divided
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1/2 c. dark corn syrup
- 1 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. salt
Directions

1Heat oven to 350°.

2In a medium bowl, mix together flour and 2 teaspoons brown sugar.

3With a fork or pastry blender, cut in 1/2 cup butter or margarine until it resembles coarse crumbs.

4Pat into ungreased 8-inch square baking dish.

5Bake for 15 minutes. In a medium bowl, combine remaining ingredients.

6Pour over baked layer and bake 20 to 25 minutes.

7Let cool and cut into 2 x 1 1/2-inch bars.
