  • 1/2 lb. butter, softened
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 egg, separated
  • 1 tsp. of vanilla or almond flavoring
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 c. chopped pecans

Directions

    Cream butter and sugar until smooth and light.

    Beat in egg yolk, flavoring and flour until well mixed.

    Pat evenly into a pan (8 x 8).

    Beat the egg white slightly and brush over the dough. Sprinkle the pecans evenly on top and press them in the dough slightly.

    Bake 16 to 18 minutes at 375° or until golden brown. Cool in pan and cut into squares.
