- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 c. butter or margarine, softened
- 4 eggs, at room temperature
- 1 tsp. vanilla or almond extract
- 2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 (21 oz.) can cherry pie filling
- powdered sugar to dust over cake
Directions

1Cream margarine and sugar.

2Add eggs; beat until light and fluffy.

3Add vanilla.

4Stir in flour and baking powder.

5Mix until smooth.

6Butter a 13 x 9-inch pan.

7Pour mixture into pan.

8Spoon a teaspoon of pie filling onto cake in 16 spots, spacing 4 spoonfuls evenly in each direction.

9Bake at 350° for 35 to 50 minutes or until golden and cake tests done (glass pan 325°). Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

10Spoon slightly sweetened whipped cream over each piece.
