  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 lb. butter
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 2 Tbsp. dark Karo syrup
  • 3 c. sifted all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
  • 2 tsp. ginger ginger
  • 1 tsp. ground cardamom

    Cream butter and sugar.

    Add eggs and syrup and mix together well.

    Gradually add sifted dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Chill.

    Roll very thin.

    Make sure you have the rolling pin and area floured.

    Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 10 to 15 minutes at 375°.

    Cut cookies with a heart shaped cutter.
