- 1 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 3/4 c. all purpose flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 c. crushed peppermint candies
Directions

1In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugars.

2Add the eggs, one at a time.

3Beat in vanilla and stir in dry ingredients.

4Stir in crushed candies.

5Shape into a 15 inch roll; wrap in plastic wrap and put in refrigerator for 4 hours.

6Unwrap and cut into 1/8 slices.

7Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets and bake at 375° for 6-8 minutes.

8Remove and cool.
