- 2 c. lard
- 2 c. brown sugar

1Put this on stove and heat all together.

45 cents worth of anise seed (6 to 8 teaspoon

51 teaspoon black pepper

61 teaspoon ginger

71/2 teaspoon cloves

82 teaspoon soda

913 or possibly 14 c. flour

10Mix hard (dough is VERY thick) roll in long rolls about the size of your finger and cut in 1/2 inch lengths.

11Bake at 350-375 degrees on greased pans till starting to turn light to medium brown around the edges of cookie.

12Remove from pan and cold.

13Cookies get very hard.

14Place in containers.

15Will keep for weeks.

16Not a good idea to freeze them because the cookie flavor gets very strong from all the spices, if frzn.

17Can make half of the recipe if you don't want so many cookies.
