  • 1 c. cocoa
  • 2 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. butter, softened
  • 2 1/2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions

    Combine cocoa and boiling water, stirring until smooth; set aside. Cream butter. Gradually add sugar. Beat at medium speed. Add eggs, one at a time. Combine flour and next 3 ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Beat at low speed. Stir in vanilla. Pour into 3 greased cake pans. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes.
