Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. yeast
  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. dill pickles
  • 1/2 c. diced onion
  • 6 to 7 c. flour

Directions

    Dissolve yeast in warm water. Scald milk and melt shortening. Stir all ingredients together.

    Add 6 to 7 cups flour and knead well. Let rise in warm place until doubled in size.

    Punch dough down and make into loaves. Let rise again. Bake at 375° for about 40 minutes or until.
