- 7 lb. cukes, sliced
- 1 oz. alum
- 3 c. lime
- 1 1/2 c. salt
- 2 qt. vinegar
- 6 lb. sugar
- 1/2 box pickling spices
Directions

1Soak cukes in lime water overnight (cover).

2Drain and wash 3 times in cold water.

3Soak 2 hours in salt water.

4Drain and wash 3 times in cold water.

5Dissolve alum in warm water.

6Add enough cold water to cover cukes.

7Add cukes and bring to a boil.

8Drain and wash 3 times in cold water.

9Mix sugar, vinegar and spices. Add cukes and bring to a boil, turn down heat and simmer 30 minutes.

10Pack in hot jars.

11Yield: 12 pints.
