Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 6 tablespoons cold butter, cut into small pieces
  • 6 tablespoons shortening
  • 3 tablespoons ice water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Directions

    Put flour in a medium bowl.

    Cut in butter and shortening with pastry blender or rub in with fingertips until mixture resembles small peas.

    Put water in a cupwith ice cubes.

    Take water out of cup with ice cubes 1 tablespoon at a time and add to crust with lemon juice.

    Toss with a fork until evenly moistened and pastry starts to clump together.

    Gather into a ball, and then divide in half.

    Press each half into a disc.

    Wrap and refrigerate at least 30 minutes or until firm enough to roll out, or up to 3 days.

    Bake pie crust as recipe instructs.
