- 1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/2 c. plus 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 to 3 Tbsp. ice water
Directions

1Sift flour and salt together.

2Cut in shortening to size of small peas. Sprinkle in water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing lightly with fork until all flour is moistened (2 to 3 teaspoons water may be added if needed).

3Firmly press dough into ball.

4On floured surface, roll crust 1-inch larger than pie plate and about 1/8-inch thick.

5Ease and fit pastry into 9-inch pie plate. Trim; flute edge.

6Prick well with fork.

7Bake at 450° for 10 to 12 minutes or until done. Cool.

8Makes one 9-inch shell.
