Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp. oil
  • 2 onions
  • 1 1/2 c. raw rice
  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • 2 1/2 c. chicken broth
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1 tsp. ground cardamom
  • 1 to 2 c. cooked chicken
  • 1/2 c. slivered almonds
  • salt to taste

Directions

    Fry onions in oil until soft.

    Add raw rice; fry until light golden brown.

    Add raisins and cook for 3 minutes.

    Add chicken broth, cinnamon, salt, cardamom and cloves.

    Cover and cook for 10 minutes.

    Add cooked chicken and almonds.

    Cook until rice absorbs all liquid.

    Serve with plain yogurt on the side.
