Pineapple Upside-Down Cake

  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 (1 lb. 14 oz.) can crushed pineapple
  • maraschino cherry halves (optional)
  • 1 pkg. yellow cake mix

Directions

    Melt butter in a 13 x 9-inch cake pan.

    Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over batter.

    Drain pineapple (use syrup as part of liquid in cake).

    Arrange pineapple and maraschino cherry halves on the sugar mixture.

    Mix cake mix according to directions on the package.

    Pour batter over the fruit.

    Bake at 350° for 50 minutes (until cake pulls away from side of pan).
