Pineapple Upside-Down Cake

- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 (1 lb. 14 oz.) can crushed pineapple
- maraschino cherry halves (optional)
- 1 pkg. yellow cake mix
Directions

1Melt butter in a 13 x 9-inch cake pan.

2Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over batter.

3Drain pineapple (use syrup as part of liquid in cake).

4Arrange pineapple and maraschino cherry halves on the sugar mixture.

5Mix cake mix according to directions on the package.

6Pour batter over the fruit.

7Bake at 350° for 50 minutes (until cake pulls away from side of pan).

8Let stand 5 minutes. Turn upside down onto large platter.
