- 3 tablespoons butter
- 14 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon onion, finely grated
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 14 teaspoon dry mustard
- 14 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 pinch cayenne
- 34 cup milk
- 34 cup tomato juice
- 1 12 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
Directions

1Melt butter in top of double boiler.

2Blend in flour, onion, salt, dry mustard, Worcestershire sauce and cayenne.

3Gradually stir in milk.

4Cook over direct heat until smoothly thickened, stirring constantly.

5Remove from heat and gradually stir in tomato juice.

6Place over hot, not boiling, water and add cheese.

7Stir constantly until cheese is melted.

8Serve on toast, with a tossed salad.
