- 1 (1 x 2-inch) chunk fatback
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- water
Directions

1Soak beans overnight in a bowl with water covering beans. Wash and rinse beans the next morning.

2Pick out dirt, stones or bad beans.

3Place in covered pot with all other ingredients, using enough water to cover beans well.

4Cook in crock-pot all day, or bring to boil on regular stove, simmering for 2 to 3 hours.

5Watch and keep beans covered in water.
