- 2 c. sifted flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 2/3 c. milk
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 c. shortening
Directions

1Roll dough half as thick as you like your biscuits.

2Sift together flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and cream of tartar. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

3Add milk all at once.

4Stir with a fork just until moistened, knead gently 10 times on lightly floured surface.

5Roll or pat dough 1/2-inch thick.

6Cut with floured biscuit cutter.

7Place on ungreased baking sheet.

8Bake at 450° for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
