- 1 pkg. active dry yeast, dissolved in 1/4 c. water
- 1 c. scalded milk
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. melted shortening
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 3 1/2 c. flour
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in water; set aside.

2Combine milk, sugar, shortening and salt; cool to lukewarm.

3Add 1 cup flour; beat well. Beat in softened yeast and egg.

4Gradually add remaining flour to form soft dough, beating well.

5Cover and let rise in warm place until double in bulk.

6Turn out on lightly floured surface and shape into rolls.
