Plantation Pound Cake

- 2 c. cake flour
- 1 c. butter (no substitute)
- 1 2/3 c. sugar
- 5 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla, lemon or almond flavoring
Directions

1Sift flour; measure and sift again.

2Cream butter until light and fluffy.

3Gradually add sugar, stirring all the while until fluffy and well blended.

4Add one egg at a time, beating well after each addition.

5After adding the last egg, beat about 5 minutes longer.

6Add flour gradually; mix well to blend.

7Add desired flavoring.

8Pour into a well-greased 10-inch tube pan. Bake in a 300° oven for 1 1/4 hours, or until done.

9Let cool slightly in pan.

10Invert on a cake cooler.
