Ingredients
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/4 c. butter
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 c. raisins
- 1 Tbsp. milk
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 lemon peel, grated
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. chopped almonds
- 1 c. confectioners sugar
- whole candied cherries
Directions

1Scald milk.

2Stir in sugar, salt and butter.

3Cool to lukewarm.

4Pour lukewarm water into a large bowl. Sprinkle yeast over top and stir until dissolved.

5Add milk, eggs and flour. Beat vigorously for 5 minutes.

6Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 1/2 hours or until doubled.

7Stir down batter.

8Beat in almonds, raisins and lemon peel.

9Pour batter into greased and floured Charlotte mold or deep cake pan.

10Let rise for 1 hour. Bake at 350° for 50 minutes.

11Let cool in pan for 20 minutes, then remove.
