  • 1 c. butter
  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. corn syrup
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 5 qt. popped corn
  • 8 1/4 oz. almonds
  • 10 oz. pecan halves

Directions

    Combine butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and salt in heavy saucepan; bring to boil, stirring constantly.

    Boil without stirring 5 minutes; remove from heat.

    Stir in vanilla and baking soda.

    Pour mixture over corn and nuts; quickly stir until well coated.

    Pour mixture into 2 (9 x 13-inch) pans.

    Bake at 250° until dry, about 1 to 1 1/2 hours, stirring every 20 minutes. Remove from oven; spread apart if necessary.

    Store airtight. Makes 5 1/2 quarts.
