Ingredients
- 1 yeast cake
- 2 Tbsp. lukewarm water
- 2 medium cooked potatoes
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. cold water
- 1 egg
- 4 1/2 to 5 c. flour
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in 2 tablespoons lukewarm water.

2Scald milk, sugar, salt and shortening in top of double boiler.

3Mash potatoes until smooth.

4Add scalded mixture and cold water.

5Cool to lukewarm temperature.

6Add yeast and 1 1/2 cups flour; beat.

7Stir in remaining flour.

8Knead on board and place in warm place for 1 1/2 hours. Shape into rolls; bake at 400° for 20 minutes.
