  • 1/2 lb. butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c. Crisco shortening
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon
  • 4 c. plain flour, sifted
  • 1 tsp. baking powder, sifted with flour
  • 1 c. half and half cream

    Cream butter and shortening well.

    Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.

    Add eggs one at a time.

    Blend in half and half cream.

    Gradually add flour.

    Add flavorings and beat again.

    Pour in greased and floured tube pan.

    Bake at 325° for about 1 1/2 hours or 1 hour and 45 minutes.
