- 1 lb. light brown sugar
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. evaporated milk
- 1 1/2 c. pecan halves
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
Directions

1Mix together all ingredients, except vanilla, in a 3-quart heavy saucepan.

2Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves.

3Cook to soft ball stage (236°).

4Continue stirring to prevent sticking.

5Remove from heat.

6Cool 5 minutes. Add vanilla; beat with wooden spoon until candy begins to thicken. Drop rapidly from tablespoon onto waxed paper.

7(If candy becomes too stiff to drop, stir in 1/2 tablespoon hot water.)

8Makes 1 1/2 pounds candy.
