Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 to 3 1/2 lb. fryer
  • 2 Tbsp. fat
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. lemon juice
  • 1/4 c. ketchup
  • 3 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 Tbsp. prepared mustard
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. chopped celery
  • dash of red pepper
  • salt to taste

Directions

    Cut chicken into serving pieces.

    Brown in 2 tablespoons fat. Remove chicken and place into casserole dish.

    Brown onion slightly in same skillet.

    Simmer remaining ingredients in skillet for 30 minutes.

    Pour over chicken.

    Cover with foil and bake at 350° for 1 hour.
