Ingredients
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 1/2 c. lukewarm water (90~ to 100~)
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 4 c. flour
- 1 beaten egg
- coarse salt
Directions

1Dissolve yeast and sugar in water.

2Add salt and flour.

3Knead dough on floured board until smooth (3 to 5 minutes).

4Cut off 4 inch pieces of dough; roll into ropes 6 to 8 inches long.

5Twist into pretzel shapes.

6Arrange on lightly greased cookie sheet. Brush egg over tops (those places missed will not brown).

7Sprinkle with coarse salt.

8Bake 12 to 15 minutes at 425°.

9Pretzels will be shiny brown.

10Serve within two days or freeze for later.
