Proper Malted Milk Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 125 grams butter
  • 88 grams caster sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 45 grams malt extract
  • 370 grams self raising flour
  • 3/4 tsp salt (I forgot but came out great)

Directions

    Cream the butter and sugar

    Beat in the egg

    Add malt and beat together
  4. 4
    Add the flour & salt if using and mix into a ball I changed to a spoon half way as mixture was going every where lol.

    Put dough in the fridge for 30-60 minutes.

    I left mine for 60.

    This makes the dough easier to roll out.

    10 minutes before you roll out the dough Pre heat oven to 150 & line a baking tray with greaseproof paper

    Roll out the dough to the thickness of a 1 coin and cut out in rectangular shapes or squares,

    Place on the tray and bake for 15-20 minutes until edges go lightly brown.

    Mine took 18 minutes

    Leave to cool a while on the tray before transferring to a cooling rack

    Enjoy with a glass of milk or favourite brew.
