Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. salad oil
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 medium eggs
  • 1 c. chopped prunes (canned ones or cooked dry ones)
  • 1 c. nut meats, chopped (English walnuts or pecans)

Directions

    Mix first 9 ingredients well in a mixer.

    Have ready the prunes and nuts.

    Fold into batter (do not beat).

    Bake in sheet pan at 350° for 35 to 45 minutes; in angel food pan 1 hour.

    When cake is ready to remove from oven, have sauce ready.
