  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 c. water
  • 2 tsp. shortening, melted
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 2 egg whites, stiffly beaten
  • 1 1/2 lb. medium or large fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • hot vegetable oil
