- 2 c. brown sugar
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 c. flour
- 3 c. quick Quaker oats
- 1 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Cream sugar and shortening; add beaten eggs and vanilla.

2Sift flour, soda and salt.

3Stir in oats, then add dry ingredients. Beat well.

4Put 1/4 cup sugar in small bowl.

5Dip fingers into sugar; pinch off a bit of dough and roll into size and shape of walnut.

6Roll in sugar.

7Place on greased cookie sheet 3 inches apart.

8Bake at 375° for 12 to 15 minutes.

9Makes 4 dozen large thick cookies.
