  • 2/3 c. vegetable shortening
  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 c. plus 3 Tbsp. maple syrup
  • 1/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. milk
  • 2 drops maple extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. pecans

Directions

    Beat the shortening and the sugar. Add the flour, salt and baking powder. Then add the liquid ingredients. Whip until smooth. Add the pecans. Pour into a greased and floured pan. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Top with Buttercream Frosting.
