- 1 c. self-rising flour
- 1/4 tsp. soda
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 1/4 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Heat oven to 375°.

2Grease a loaf pan thoroughly; lightly dust with flour.

3Combine dry ingredients in mixing bowl.

4Stir in shortening and buttermilk.

5Let mixture set in pan about 15 minutes, then bake for about 45 minutes.

6Cover pan with a tea towel and let cool.
