Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef, turkey or mixed
  • 2 medium cloves garlic
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 (13 oz.) can chopped tomatoes
  • 1 (13 oz.) can kidney beans
  • 6 oz. water or beef broth
  • diced jalapeno or chili peppers (optional)

Directions

    Saute garlic, pepper and onion.

    Scramble meat over medium to high heat; drain.

    Add tomatoes, beans and water (broth).

    Stir and cook 20 minutes over low heat until done.

    (If you prefer a slight sweetness to your chili, add 1 tablespoon sugar as soon as heat is turned down.)

    Add jalapeno and/or chili peppers.

    Cook 5 minutes more.

    Serve with crackers, tortilla chips or over rice, Sloppy Joe style.
