- 1/4 lb. butter or margarine
- 2 lb. onions, sliced
- 2 cans beef consomme
- 1 1/2 c. water
- 6 slices French bread, toasted
- grated Parmesan cheese
Directions

1Melt butter

5Saute sliced onions over medium

6heat until golden brown.

7Lightly salt and pepper onion slices.

8Add consomme and water and simmer until heated through.

9Pour soup into serving bowls.

10Place a square of toast in each bowl and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
