Quick Yeast Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 c. lukewarm milk
  • 3/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 4 tsp. shortening
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions

    Stir yeast, sugar and milk in a small bowl.

    Let stand for 10 minutes.

    In a separate medium bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt and shortening.

    Blend ingredients together until mixed well.

    Pour in liquid and mix together until a large ball is formed.

    With small amount of flour on hands, pinch off smaller than golfball size of dough.

    Roll in hands until smooth.

    Lightly press each ball in a 9 x 9-inch square pan.

    Dab each roll with melted margarine.

    Cover and place in a warm area.

    Let rise 30 minutes or until rolls rise to top of pan (should take no longer than 45 minutes).

    Bake at 400° until until brown.
