- 2 c. milk
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 3/4 c. buckwheat flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. molasses
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp. soda, dissolved in 1/4 c. warm water
- 1/4 c. melted shortening
Directions

1Scald and cool milk.

2Add yeast; stir until dissolved.

3Stir in flour and salt.

4Stir to a smooth batter.

5Cover and let rise 12 hours or overnight.

6Stir in molasses, soda mixture, egg and shortening.

7Ladle on hot skillet, as with pancakes.

8Serve with hot syrup or bacon gravy.
