  • 1 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts

Directions

    Simmer, with lid on for 20 minutes, raisins, water and shortening.

    Cool, then add egg and sugar.

    Sift together and add flour, cinnamon, soda and nutmeg.

    Stir together and add vanilla and nuts.

    Bake 20 minutes in a long pan at 350°.

    Cover with thin icing.
