- 1 1/2 c. raisins
- 1 1/2 c. water
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 3/4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. soda
- 1 c. broken English walnuts
Directions

1Cook raisins in water slowly for 20 minutes.

2Cool, drain and save liquid.

3Cream sugar, egg and shortening.

4Add enough water to liquid to make 3/4 cup in all.

5Sift flour, salt and soda.

6Add to creamed mixture alternately with liquid.

7Add raisins and walnuts.

8Fill buttered round bean cans or tomato cans 1/2 full and bake in 350° oven for 45 minutes for bean can/1 hour for tomato cans.
