Ingredients

  • 1 c. milk (scald)
  • 1/2 stick margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 4 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 packages dry yeast
  • 1 c. raisins

Directions

    Set aside milk to cool slightly.

    Mix yeast into warm water; melt margarine (or butter) and combine with salt, sugar and egg. Combine all the above ingredients with the flour and milk and mix together lightly with fork or hands.

    Let this dough stay in a covered bowl at room temperature for 1 hour.

    After 1 hour beat batter down, add raisins and divide dough in half; put in bread pans; place in preheated 350° oven for 40 minutes.
