- 6 slices raisin bread
- 2 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- nutmeg
Directions

1Slice raisin bread into 3/4-inch pieces.

2Place in shallow buttered 1-quart baking dish; set aside.

3Heat milk with butter until hot and butter is melted (do not allow to boil).

4Beat eggs with vanilla, salt and sugar.

5Add hot milk mixture, stirring constantly.

6Pour over bread.

7Allow to stand 5 minutes.

8Sprinkle with nutmeg.

9Set baking dish in pan of hot water to half the depth of dish.

10Bake, uncovered, at 350° for about 50 minutes, or until custard is set.
