Ingredients

  • 1 lb. pinto beans
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 large onion
  • 1/2 bell pepper
  • 3 pods garlic
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 can stewed tomatoes
  • 1 small can tomato sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

    Bring beans to a boil for 10 to 15 minutes.

    Put lid on beans and let set for 1 hour.

    Drain water.

    Put in fresh water and cook for about 30 to 45 minutes after they come to a boil.

    Put in chopped onion, bell pepper and chili powder.

    Cook for about 30 minutes.

    Brown meat in bacon drippings.

    Pour in beans and add garlic.

    Cook on low heat until beans are done.

    Season to taste.
