Ingredients

  • 1 lb. red beans, wash and drain
  • cut up smoked sausage (2 handfuls)
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 c. white wine
  • 4 c. water (make sure beans are covered with 2-inches water)
  • 1/2 tsp. hot sauce (or more to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp. bitters
  • 1 bay leaf

    Cook overnight in crock pot.

    If cooking on stove, soak beans overnight before cooking.

    Serve over cooked rice with garlic bread.
