- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 oz. red food coloring
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 2 1/2 c. cake flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 Tbsp. vinegar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
Directions

1Cream shortening and sugar together.

2Make paste with eggs and food coloring.

3Add salt, buttermilk and flour to mixture.

4Mix vanilla, vinegar and soda together; fold into cake batter.

5Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.
